Austria, officially known as the Republic of Austria, is a country in Europe landlocked by Germany and the Czech Republic on the north, Slovakia and Hungary in the east, Slovenia and Italy to the south, and Switzerland to the west. Austria's capital is Vienna. It is also the largest city in the country.
Settlement in this part of the world began in the 9th century. The country has been a member of the United Nations since 1955 and joined the European Union in 1995.

Vienna houses the Parliament of Austria. Austria became a federal, parliamentarian, democratic republic through the Federal Constitution of 1920. It was reintroduced in 1945 to the 9 states of the Federal Republic.

Austrian Cuisine:
The cuisine of Austria is a derivation of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In addition to regional traditions, it has been influenced by Hungarian, Czech, Jewish, Italian and Bavarian cuisines. Therefore, Austrian cuisine is one of the most distinctive and multi-cultural in the entire continent.
