Japan tour

Japan is situated in the Pacific Ocean. It is an island country of East Asia. It stretches from the Sea of Okhotsk in the extreme north to the East China Sea in the extreme south, lying to the east of China, Korea and Russia. Japan means "sun-origin" or the "Land of the Rising Sun". Tokyo is Japan's capital and its largest city.

Japan consists of more than three thousand islands, of which the largest are Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku. These islands together constitute for 97% of the total land area. Many of the islands in the country are mountainous or even volcanic, like, Mount Fuji. With approximately 128 million people Japan has the world's tenth largest population. The Greater Tokyo Area including Tokyo and several other administrative districts is one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world. It has over 30 million residents. Japan houses over three thousand islands stretching all along the Pacific coast of Asia. The main islands are Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu. The Ryukyu Islands, Okinawa and Kyushu together form the Japanese Archipelago.
Almost 70% to 80% of the country is covered with deep forests and mountains that form wonderful tourist attractions. These areas are however, unsuitable for agricultural, industrial, or residential use. Japan has been rated as the thirtieth most thickly populated country in the world.

Its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire gives Japan regular low-intensity tremors and even volcanic activity at times. Each century witnesses some destructive activities due to this. There are also hot springs, which has resulted into a mushrooming number of resorts and tourist spots around these areas. Japan enjoys a predominantly temperate climate, which varies greatly from north to south. Its geographical features divide Japan into six principal climatic zones.
